Serotonin-Plus Fitness Blog: Chafing
In addition to annoying foot blisters, chafing can also put a damper on your workout routine. Chafing is a painful irritation caused by the constant rubbing of clothing on skin while exercising. Humidity, rain, and excessive sweating make chafing even worse. Most women experience chafing on their inner thighs, under their arms, or under their sports bra lines. This awful irritation can be painful enough to make you not want to work out for few days, so prevention is important. First, you should buy some exercise clothing that is made of wicking material, i.e. “dry fit”. Choose sports bras that have flat seems so that there is less irritation. You also want you clothing to fit well. If they are too loose, they will shift around and cause friction. If you still experience chafing, you should apply a protective product such as BodyGlide or Aquafor on affected areas to help protect skin.
